Pottery Classes in Lambertville, NJ

Lambertville spends its weekends elbow-deep in beautiful old things — the antique shops, the gallery walks, Shad Fest posters layered like sediment. Our pottery classes, fifteen minutes downriver in Washington Crossing, are for making the beautiful new thing: hand-built stoneware with your own fingerprints in it.

It's a short, pretty drive — over the free bridge, down River Road with the Delaware on your left the whole way. Our classes skip the wheel entirely in favor of pinch, coil and slab building, which beginners find friendlier and artists find freer.

Lambertville regulars tell us the appeal is symmetry: a town that treasures century-old ceramics should probably produce some of its own. Adult sessions run evenings and weekends; teens get their own table, and the occasional D&R towpath cyclist shows up still in a helmet.

Firing and food-safe glazing happen on site. Finished pieces have been spotted in at least one North Union Street shop window — as the personal work of the shopkeeper, which we count as the highest local honor available.
