Pottery Classes in Princeton, NJ

Princeton has world-class collections at the University Art Museum and no shortage of lectures about art — our pottery classes are where you finally make some. Twenty-five minutes from Nassau Street, across the Delaware in Washington Crossing, we teach hand-building the way it's been done for ten thousand years: fingers, clay, patience.

Our Princeton students are a studio cross-section — grad students who need one non-cerebral hour a week, retirees from the western sections, teens padding a portfolio with something tactile. Hand-building levels the field; nobody has a head start on a pinch pot.

The drive out Route 546 past Province Line Road turns the class into a genuine break from the Princeton bubble — no orange, no black, just the river and a table of wet clay. Evening and weekend sections fit around seminar schedules and soccer carpools alike.

Firing and food-safe glazing are included, and pieces come out ready for the dorm shelf or the dinner table. More than one dissertation has been survived, we're told, one coil vessel at a time.
